Bulky Waste Facility

The first facility in the province of Alicante specifically designed for the treatment of bulky waste, located at the El Campello Environmental Complex and developed by the Consorci MARE — the organisation responsible for managing waste from 52 municipalities in the Marina Alta, Marina Baixa and El Campello regions. Grupotec carried out the complete engineering and construction management for a facility that triples the existing capacity, increasing from 10,000 to 30,000 tonnes per year of furniture, household appliances, mattresses and other large items —a fraction that can account for between 8 and 15 per cent by weight of total municipal waste. The plant incorporates shredding, sorting and manual triage systems that enable the recovery and recovery of complex materials historically difficult to recycle, with the aim of giving them a second life.
