Grupotec continues to make progress on its R&D&I projects supported by the AVI (Valencian Innovation Agency)
December 2024
The photovoltaic sector has established itself as a key pillar in the decarbonisation of the global economy, and at Grupotec we reaffirm our commitment to continuous innovation and excellence in harnessing this renewable energy source.
Over the past year, we have made significant progress in the development of our R&D&I projects, achieving promising results that reinforce our vision for the future. These milestones not only demonstrate our commitment to continuous improvement, but also to generating technological solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability. All of this has been made possible with the support of ERDF funding through the Valencian Agency for Innovation (AVI), which enables us to continue building a cleaner and more responsible future.
Photovoltaic
Field Modelling As part of this project, which focuses on improving the modelling and prediction of photovoltaic module behaviour during operation, we have achieved the following results to date:
· Reduction in uncertainties in the prediction of peak voltages over the lifetime of photovoltaic plants.
· Development of an innovative model to quantify the risk of overvoltage in photovoltaic plants.
· Development of tools for intra-hourly prediction of peak voltages based on historical weather data and climate trends.
Topography and Earthworks Modelling This project focuses on assessing and quantifying the impact of terrain topography on various aspects of the photovoltaic project, ranging from the civil engineering design of the project to the plant’s power output and final generation. To date, the following milestones have been achieved:
· Development of tools for defining and quantifying the optimal earthworks for the photovoltaic plant.
· Reduction of uncertainty in generation estimates due to energy losses from mismatch, in both string-type and centralised inverter configurations. Assessment of the impact of variations in topography on energy loss due to mismatch.
